Our Purpose |
Engineering Girl Power Society began as an outreach program to connect middle school aged girls with high school mentors that are interested in the STEM field. The purpose of the mentors is to have them act as role models for the younger girls and in a sense, "big sisters." These mentors use their experiences from the engineering classes at Freedom to share advice ranging from how to adjust to high school life to how making mistakes is an important part of learning and growing. The mentors are positive role models to motivate the girls and uncover their true potential. It is essential for younger girls to see older girls displaying characteristics of confidence and leadership in order to envision herself with those same qualities.
In past years we traveled to Broughal and East Hills Middle Schools to do projects in person. This year we are changing some things up and will continue to update our schedule! |
